The Army Museum of Western Australia’s Archives houses the museum’s main collection of images, maps, official and unofficial documents, personal diaries and various other publications.
These facilities are not available on a full time basis and can only be accessed when volunteer staff are on site, unless specific arrangements have been made in advance with the Archives Manager. This applies to both Foundation Members (active volunteers and financial members) as well as members of the public.
The maintenance of collection of items within the Archives does incur some costs such as:
- Provision of safe storage
- Provision of electronic equipment
- Documentation of the collection
- Volunteer’s time
In order to recover at least some of these costs the Army Museum of WA Foundation has agreed that nominal charges will be imposed on the use of the archives facility depending on the end use of the material being sought and the category of researcher. Further details on these charges can be provided on request.
