Jointly hosted by the Army Museum of Western Australia and the Military Historical Society of Australia (Western Australian Branch)
Presentation by Mr Peter Shaw, Fellow of the Military Historical Society of Australia and current Chairman of the Army Museum of Western Australia Foundation covering the background and history of these colours.
The Regimental Colour presented to the Fremantle Rifle Volunteers in 1862 is the earliest known colour to be presented to a Western Australian Army unit. The King’s Colour of the 86th Infantry dates from the 1914-18 period. Both colours were subsequently laid up in St. John’s Church in Fremantle and in October 2025 the Church agreed to pass these on to the Army Museum of Western Australia for conservation and ongoing display.
At the end of the presentation, attendees are invited to view these items in the Army Museum’s Pre-1914 Gallery.
